Used Car Import Rules & Regulations

• • Drive type: Only right-hand drive vehicles are permitted.
• • Age restriction: Vehicles must be no older than 60 months (5 years) from the date of first registration.
• • Condition: Vehicles must be in good running condition, not damaged, with original chassis, and without bull bars.

Shipping Information

• • Destination port: Port Louis, Mauritius.
• • Shipping method: RORO.
• • Transit time: Approximately 19-24 days.
• • Vessel schedule: Monthly.
• • Shipping line: PAS (Mauritius) Ltd.
• • Inspection required: JEVIC and JAAI.

Import Duties & Taxes

• • VAT: 15% calculated on CIF value + import duty + excise duty + freight and insurance.

Required Documentation

• • Original invoice (FOB and/or CIF value of the car).
• • Bill of lading or airway bill.
• • Bill of entry.
• • Insurance certificate (if applicable).
• • Certificate of inspection (JEVIC/JAAI).
• • Certificate of origin (if applicable).
• • Cancellation of registration certificate.
• • Import permit.
