Year Restriction

No age limitation for general imports.
Returning nationals & diplomats: vehicles must not be more than 3 years old when purchased.

Import Rules & Regulations

Vehicle type: Only Left-Hand Drive (LHD) vehicles are permitted.
Special permits:
- Used, renovated, or faulty vehicles require official permission from the Ministry of Economy.
- Used construction vehicles also require prior authorization from the Ministry of Economy.
Temporary import for residents abroad:
- Vehicles registered abroad can be imported under relief for private use by non-residents.
- Maximum usage period: 24 months.
- Vehicles must be registered in the passport of the importer.
- Residents of Turkey cannot temporarily import vehicles from abroad.

Used Cars Import Duties & Taxes

Import duty: 10%.
VAT: 18%.
Duties and taxes are calculated on the CIF value of the vehicle (Cost, Insurance, Freight).

Used Cars Import Documentation

Commercial invoice.
Proforma invoice.
Certificate of origin.
Original bill of lading (BOL) including chassis & engine numbers.
Original purchase/commercial invoice.
Insurance policy.
Original certificate of title and registration.
Passport.
Letter of Conformity may be required from the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology or an authorized institution for customs declaration.
