  • Drive Side: Left-hand drive vehicles are allowed.
  • Allowed Importers: Angolan citizens, registered importers, and companies (dealers, fleet operators, logistics, NGOs, mining companies).
  • Inspection: Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) may be required (diplomats exempt).

Year Restrictions & Shipping

  • Year Restriction: Light vehicles must be ≤ 3 years old; heavy vehicles must be ≤ 5 years old.
  • Not Allowed: Passenger vehicles older than 3 years and industrial vehicles older than 10 years are prohibited.
  • Destination Ports: Luanda, Angola and Durban, South Africa.
  • Shipment Details: Shipment time is 24–36 days via RORO, with a monthly vessel schedule.
  • Shipping Line: Waitara.

Definitive Import Rules

  • Fixed tax of 40–45% based on CIF value.
  • General import tax of 10% plus VAT (pickups are 5%).

Temporary Import

  • Valid for 2 years and extendable by an additional 1 year.
  • Requires a bond deposit of 40–45% of the CIF value, which is refundable upon re-export.

Required Documents

  • Original purchase invoice and original Bill of Lading (BOL).
  • CNCA loading certificate and export certificate.
  • Declaration of Value (ADV) and packing list (in English or Portuguese).
  • Taxpayer ID / Contributor Card, Passport, and resident card.
  • Import license (mandatory for company imports or high-value private imports).

Exemptions

  • Diplomatic consignments are exempt from certain taxes.
  • Certain approved private investment projects may qualify for special exemptions.
