Georgia Import Regulations

General Information & Import Rules

• • Who Can Import: Private individuals and registered businesses.
• • Drive Orientation: Only Left-Hand Drive (LHD) vehicles are permitted for importation.
• • Age Restriction: There are currently no age limits for imported used vehicles in Georgia.
• • Inspection: No mandatory inspection is required for used vehicles, including those imported from Japan.

Shipping & Logistics

• • Destination Port: Port of Poti.
• • Shipment Details: Approximately 34–46 days via container.
• • Vessel Schedule: Monthly frequency.

Duties & Taxes

• • Import Duty Exemption: Customers are officially exempt from import duties when importing used vehicles into Georgia.
• • VAT: Standard 18% VAT calculated on the CIF value of the vehicle.
• • Bank Guarantee: A bank guarantee for the VAT amount must be provided during the temporary import period.

Required Documentation

• • Original Foreign Registration Certificate and Proforma Invoice.
• • Tag/Title Application (Form MV-1v).
• • Original Bill of Lading (OBL) and Bill(s) of Sale.
• • Form T-22B and other specific customs forms.
• • Additional documentation as required based on individual import circumstances.
