General Information & Import Rules

• • Who Can Import: Private individuals and commercial businesses.
• • Drive Orientation: Only Left-Hand Drive (LHD) vehicles are permitted in DR Congo.
• • Age Restriction: There is currently no age limit for imported used vehicles.
• • Inspection: Mandatory inspections by DGDA, OCC, and the Ministry of Commerce. Vehicles older than 6 months are generally exempt from pre-shipment inspection.

Shipping & Logistics

• • Destination Port: Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) for transit to DR Congo.
• • Shipment Details: Approximately 24–34 days via RORO.
• • Vessel Schedule: Monthly frequency.

Duties & Taxes

• • Custom Duties: Range from 8% to 46.1% based on vehicle specification.
• • VAT: Ranges between 8% and 13%.

Required Documentation

• • Original Vehicle Registration Document (V5C/logbook).
• • Original Bill of Lading (OBL) specifying chassis, engine number, and model details.
• • Commercial or Purchase Invoice.
• • Legal Conveyance Certificate.
• • Legal copy of the vehicle inspection certificate from the country of origin.
