Destination Port & Shipping

• • Destination ports: Bangkok and Laem Chabang.
• • Time of shipment (RORO): 14-19 days.
• • Vessel schedule (RORO): Monthly shipments.
• • Shipping line: Thailand Star Shipping.
• • Inspection: No mandatory inspection required in Japan before shipping.

Used Car Import Rules & Regulations

• • Vehicle type: Only Right-Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles are permitted.
• • Temporary import: Personal vehicles (cars, motorcycles, yachts, boats) can be temporarily imported for 1-6 months with tax/duty relief, provided they are re-exported within the period.
• • Customs procedures (temporary/permanent): Submit a Declaration Form and supporting documents.
• • Provide cash deposit or bank guarantee for liable taxes/duties.
• • Vehicle inspection by customs before entry approval.
• • For motorcycles via Bangkok Customs or Suvarnabhumi Airport, the importer may provide a self-guarantee if unable to deposit cash/bank guarantee.

Used Cars Import Duties & Taxes

• • Import duty: 80% of CIF value.
• • VAT: 7% of CIF value.
• • Excise/Interior tax: 10% applicable on excise duty.
• • Taxes and duties must be guaranteed via cash deposit or bank guarantee during customs clearance.

Used Cars Import Documentation

• • Original certificate of registration.
• • Original bill of lading.
• • Invoice or receipt showing proof of purchase and price.
• • Customs declaration and import goods declaration (3 copies).
• • Insurance certificate.

Importer Documents

• • Importer passport.
• • Work permit valid for at least 1 year.
• • Proof of residence or visa if required for permanent import.
