The importer must be the first owner and must have owned the vehicle for no more than 6 months
before shipping. Vehicles with previous owners, including demo cars, cannot be imported.
Before importing, the vehicle must be approved by the Transport Control Department (TCD) by
providing details such as make, model, size, weight, engine capacity, and horsepower.
Required documents include the Bill of Sale, title certificate, overseas registration or
approval letter, owner’s handbook, vehicle brochure, and emissions certificate.
Importers must pay initial registration fees, including licence plate, registration, and
inspection fees.
Vehicle Limits
Motorcycles: Maximum 150cc engine (two-stroke limited to 100cc and strict horsepower limits).
Private Cars: Maximum 175 inches length, 71 inches width, 2500cc engine, and 10.5 kg/kW
power-to-weight ratio.
Motor Taxis: Maximum 210 inches length and 77 inches width, with a 10% import duty.
