Import Conditions

• • Vehicle age restriction: No age limit.
• • Drive type: Right-hand drive vehicles only; left-hand drive vehicles are prohibited.
• • Inspection: Pre-delivery inspection in the country of origin is required.

• • Destination port: Durban, South Africa.
• • Shipment method: RORO.
• • Transit time: Approximately 24-34 days.

Duties and Taxes

• • Import duty: Up to 25% of customs value.
• • VAT: 15% on CIF + customs duty + other taxes.
• • Additional info: Vehicle must be owned by importer for at least 1 year; second vehicles incur additional duties.

Notes

• • Returning residents or immigrants importing a vehicle for personal use may receive a rebate.
• • Customs duties and VAT are payable if the vehicle is intended for sale.

Required Documentation

• • Original certificate of title and registration.
• • Original bill of lading (OBL) showing chassis and engine numbers, cubic capacity, year, brand, and model.
• • Original commercial/purchase invoice.
• • Driver's license and international insurance policy (green card).
• • Import permit from Department of Trade and Industry.
• • Original passport.
• • C/E 1 form.
• • Letter of value for the vehicle.
