Duties & Taxes

  • Import Duty: 20% for vehicles worth $2,000 and above; 10% tourist tax for vehicles worth less than $2,000.
  • Verification Fee: Standard 5% of the total CIF value.
  • VAT: 10% calculated on the CIF value.
  • Excise Tax: 10% applicable on vehicles with an engine capacity of 2200cc or more.
  • Note: Fuel taxes on CIF range significantly (e.g., Gasoline 90%, Diesel 40%).

Valuation & Storage

  • Customs Valuation: Calculated based on CIF or FOB; Blue Book value may be used if the purchase invoice is not accepted.
  • Storage Fees: Daily storage fees apply to vehicles kept in temporary storage while paperwork is being processed.

Required Documentation

  • Original Title of Vehicle and Bill of Sale.
  • Ocean Bill of Lading (BoL).
  • Detailed Cargo Manifest.
  • Valid Passport and Driver’s License (for the vehicle owner).
  • Manifest identifying the specific Point of Origin and Destination.
